I've heard in katha that when doing kirtan ,chanting God's name person can get into samdhi. My doubt is that when a person is in samadhi what is state of mind?Is it like that no outer world thought strikes that person's mind.what is difference between samadhi done by yogi and smadhi done by a true sikh

Samadhi is the same for everyone. The process is the same in Gurbani: Dharana --> Dyana --> Samadhi

Meditation on Naam --> Absorption into Naam ---> Samadhi

You start out meditating and control the mind by focusing on the sound current. You are drawn in, like a magnet pulling your point of attention deeper and deeper into concentration until everything else falls away and you go deep, deep into the central point of focus.

Samadhi cannot be described in words because it is a state in which you go beyond the mind into your expanded consciousness. In that state, the ego dies, the tenth gate opens, you dissolve into the Infinite, you are filled with awe and humility at the vastness of creation, you experience the Creator in action within all things. It cannot be understood by the intellect. It must be experienced.
