Hi,

I'm at the age now that I'd like to learn more about the religion I was born into: Sikhism. I'm 26 years old. My mom is amritdhari but isn't a real source of learning for me. She has directed me to sikhnet, as per her sister's advice (who is also amritdhari). But no one else in my family is religious. I don't have much people in my life to go to about this. My brother has recently converted to Christianity. Although I don't judge his decision, I personally don't want to take that route. I'd much rather try and learn about Sikhism, before anything else. So I will definitely check this website out. I can read and write Gurmukhi to a certain extent, but I don't understand it very much. I'm looking to read and learn more in English. But I don't want to just read anything either. For example; unreliable authors, inaccurate information/accounts on events, and just individual opinions/perspectives. I want to learn through reading from a credible source but in English, which seems hard to find. Perhaps I don't know where to look. Any suggestions on a good first book, and where to access/buy it? Or is there a place I can even slowly begin to read "Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji" or other "banis/paat" in English. Putting that in quotations because they are non-English words. Thank you in advance to anyone who offers guidance, support, and advice on this for me.

Kind Regards, A knowledge seeker

At the top of the SikhNet pages you'll see a menu item "Siri Guru Granth Sahib" and the drop down menu says "Read"
