Can I be a Sikh without the turban and beard? I am Danish.

I believe that the doctrine of Sikhism is beautiful and superior to any other. I just do no want a beard or turban. Can I still say that i am a Sikh?

It's like saying, I want to join the Police department but i do not want to wear the Cops' dress. Can i still be called a Police Officer?
