The ego isn't completely destroyed. Without an ego, the human could not act. The ego is destroyed when dasam duar opens, but then it is reformed in a way that the center of your identity becomes "Thee" instead of "me" -- "Thine" instead of "mine." In other words, attachment to people, things, outcomes, etc. drops away. The veil of illusion drops away and maya has no power over you. You can enjoy it, but it has no power over you.
