I could be wrong but blue could be Nihangs, according to Wiki Blue was introduced by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji.
Basanti (yellow) was introduced by Sri Guru Hargobind Rai Ji.
White was introduced by Sri Guru Amar Das Ji .
Saffron was introduced by the Sikh Empire.
I am not sure how the Gurus celebrated Gurpurabs, but wasn't a procession done when the first prakash of Sri Guru Grant Sahib Ji happened ?
