You are lonely because you do not know how to give. Tears flow from you like water because you say, “What am I doing here?” All you have to do is uplift other people. Actually, It is good to be lonely because loneliness has three things in it: purity, infinity and ecstasy. When these ingredients get together and amalgamate with each other, one becomes lonely. One becomes One. Are there two Gods? One God which produces ladies, the other produces men? And one God which produces animals and another produces trees? We say it with great pride, “There is but One God!” If there is but One God, then there is but one you, there is but one me. “I am, I am!” So then who do you want to be friends with? Loneliness does not mean that you can’t share with others. It is only the lonely who share with all. Nanak naam cherdi kalaa — once in Nanak, by the grace of God, you get to reach the state of ecstasy... until ecstasy, loneliness and you become One, sarbat ka bala — then you do good for all. That is seva. When there is nothing else to do in life but serve and elevate every situation. Then you are alone but you are never lonely because you are always three - you, and God and Guru. Three in one. Remember - your degree of happiness is inversely proportional to how much time you spend thinking about your own predicament in life.
