The examples you give are examples of teaching. They arose spontaneously in response to events in Nanak's life. There is no rule about speaking. Each person and each situation is unique. Remember - people may not remember what you say, but they will remember how you made them feel. The most important thing is to connect to each person. That connection cannot happen when your words flow from your mind. The connection only happens when you communicate from heart to heart.
