There are three parts to this. None of them include regret. Regret simply provides the motivation to do these three:

Part one, you have already done. You have taken responsibility for your own actions and decided to change how you choose to respond.

Now comes part two: You must forgive yourself. Not just go through the motions, but deeply forgive yourself for any harm you may have caused to others.

Part three is to address the karmas you may have created by reaching out to anyone you may have hurt in order for the unresolved feelings not to sit unaddressed. You will know who is approachable and who may not be so. It's up to you to do the reaching out, and it must be sincere, from the heart, not emotional remorse or drama. Just letting the other person know that you respect and honor them for who they are, a fellow human being.
