For a Amritdhari person, caste and creed is of no importance. Yet the truth is casteism prevails in the Indian Sikh society. The reason majority of the Indian Sikhs' ancestors were Hindus. So, the Indian Sikhs still follow Hindu traditions and culture . So blaming the Punjabi Sikhs is not good and neither is it good to blame the Parents.

If a Jatti falls in love with a Chooda or a Chamar Sardar this is considered so shameful. Your boyfriend has got the support of his Parents and friends but you got neither the support of your Parents nor from the Jatt Sikhs.

Please try to understand me, my answer is not to discourage you but as a woman you are left alone. In future if some crisis brews up in your would-be-in-laws' house, your Parents won't be around to support you. Please take the decision very carefully.
