All the problems the Sikhs face today is because for the Punjabi Sikh community Sikhism and Punjabi culture are synonymous. If you ask any Punjabi Sikh sitting in Chandigarh, Sikh from Lahore, in Kuala Lumpur, in London or be at any part of the Globe as to what is Sikhi, then he will reply back Sikhi means being Punjabi.

And being Punjabi means doing Pungra-Shungra, Daru-Sharu, Kukad-Shukad and Kudi-Shudi. Now, all this is in complete contradictions to the Sikh faith which teaches us Sewa, Simran, Daya and Santokh.

For the younger generation Punjabi Sikhs going to Gurdwara means do the "Matha Tek" have langar, flaunt their latest Mobile Phones, and the Punjabans flaunting their latest fashion Salwar Suits, spend a nice weekend and then return back home.

On the other hand, the White Sikhs or the Gore Sikhs after deep study of the Sikh faith embraced Sikhism. Almost all of them are Sabat Soorat. They are the true followers of the Sikh Panth. When one sees Gore Sikhs, there seems to be ray of hope but when one sees Punjabi Sikhs it seems Sikhism is in DOLDRUMS.
