I think you need a better teacher. You are not stupid and if your teacher called you that then it shows his or her own ignorance. Everything comes down to intent. You acted in innocence. There is no problem nor any blame. You did not do anything wrong. Everything is Ik OngKar! That's what it means! So the book in which you wrote is Ik OngKar, your pen or pencil is Ik OngKar and so are you! The only wrong thing is conscious, intention disrespect of Gurbani or of the Guru. Teachers job is to inspire and encourage. There is no problem.
