If a non-Sikh child lives with a Sikh family, does he have to wear a patka?

Depends on the family and whether their own kids have kept their hair, and whether that kid is a guest or adopted. If he's adopted they'll probably raise him as they did their own kids and have him wear a patka. If he's just visiting i think no issue whether he wears the patka or not. i don't think theres any rules. lots of sikh kids don't wear patkas either, its just the family environment and if its an amritdhari family they will.
