Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.....

Recently I went to a sukhmani sahib path congregation at an aunt's home, after doing path the ladies started gurbani kirtan soon after which another lady (non-sikh) said that-" I would also like to sing bhajan", no one objected so she sang a non-gurbani bhajan. Somehow I did not like this mixing up of things and I got confused weather this is right or wrong...

Gurbani says -"Satgur bina hoor kachi hai bani" according to this we should not sing bani apart from gurbani....then in such congregations it should not be allowed or people should resist it..... Kindly help me understand what is right here....

Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh..!!

I am not any expert.. Just telling my thinking.. Anything which preach about God is gurubani and according to guru granth sahib ji also ik onkar mean god is one.. Only the way and medium is different.. And main objective of sikh religion is to eliminate all the social, caste or any kind of differences.. So if two or more people praise lord then it should be considered as sat sang, as it is not doing any harm just the way is different

Thanks

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Many people sing hymns that are not from Gurbani at the Gurdwara, for example, Bhai Gurdas Ji bani and Bhai Nand Lal Ji's bani. Also, Thadis sing about important events in Sikhi.

But obviously, if someone is singing something that doesn't agree with Gurbani it shouldn't be sung, as we know Gurbani is completely perfect and pure and nothing else comes close.
