The first 10 Gurus were considered the founders of the religion. Why the first 10? Why not 11? Why not just 1? What was the deciding factor behind this decision?

I'm interested to see what others have to say. I think it wasn't a decision about how many there would be. I0 Gurus ended up being was what was necessary to fulfill what was needed to establish the Khalsa and get to where we are today. Each Guru added more to the development of Sikhi, and by the time we ended up with 10 we had fully developed the concepts of what our religion is, and had recorded this knowledge in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, our eternal Guru.
