I was just wondering if it is ok to listen to music other than kirtan.

Yes but keep in mind that the purpose of kirtan and bani is to wash off filth. So music that has derogatory content will not do you any favours if u wanna walk this path. Basically just pick your music wisely. (That doesn't fuel lust anger greed attachment and ego) these things try to minimize them.
