The biggest issue i have been facing for years is the ego within me and because of this issue i am not even able to concentrate while reading Bani, reciting Ardas or while chanting Simran.

Please let me know how to overcome ego problem and also on how to focus my mind and concentrate on the feet of the SatGuru.

Well, this is the biggest issue facing everyone, isn't it? :-)

Guru Ji has given very specific instructions for confronting one's ego. If you read pauris 8-15 of Japji Sahib, there the instructions are clear - Suniai (meditate and listen deeply) then Manai (surrender.) The key to effective meditation lies in your breath. You must slow your breathing down and breathe very consciously, slowly and deeply, using your entire lung capacity. It must be done whilst keeping the body still with an absolutely straight spine. Do not give up as your thoughts try to distract you from your inner Simran on your breath. Crazy thoughts, distracting thoughts, repugnant thoughts - no matter. Let them come then let them go. Keep steady. Keep going. Use the Guru Mantra to bring your mind back over and over.

Daily practice for 31 minutes or more will lead you into that state of suniai that Guru Ji describes. When you bring your mind under your control, it will serve you. Otherwise, it will take you to places you do not wish to go.

The next stage is surrender which will begin to unfold naturally as your heart softens.

You can live from your head or you can live from your heart. When you give your head to the Guru, then you have no head. When you have no head, what problem can there be? Your head is no longer yours and it cannot get you into trouble.
