guru's gave women the equality status, that is fine, but what happened to equality when giving positions to desciples to become guru or panj pyara !

even women were fighter's ,were they not, then why just gave them a status of mother of khalsa or wife of khalsa and not the positions that mattered, not even a single women were eligible for being guru ?

*Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

At that time women were seen as less superior to men, and nobody would listen/accept a women.

Also in Gurbani, we are seen as the soul-bride and Waheguru/Guru Ji seen as the husband lord. That wouldn't make sense if one Guru was a women.

Also when selecting the Panj Pyara, don't think Guru Ji said I need the head of 5 males just 5 people.

Though I have asked myself this very question, I have learned that it is a fruitless question. Perhaps cultural, perhaps the swing between matriarchal and patriarchal periods. No matter. It happened the way it happened. Speculating on why is just that... speculation.

What is important is that the path has been laid. The instruction has been given. We have no Guru in human form. Let the Panth rise to embrace equality in all aspects of our life.

its not religion society has always been unfair to women, but we must not have a victim attitude. or .. maybe god chose to shine their light upon men gurus because he wanted the path of righteousness to be full filled, and hardly anyone would follow it if a woman stood up because we are talking the ages during women used to be burned alive when their husband died (horrifying I know) :| he used the gurus to bring equality to all, women, races, poor everyone.

God is something we can not comprehend, we may have read a few words of knowledge and think we are the boss, but god is even bigger than that. @ the end of the day the skeptic mind will throw so many weird questions that will try to throw off your faith. but think of life before and after waheguru. the life before is actually horrifying and is like a burning oven (so much pain and agony) no stability.

sikhi actually attempts to give women equality thou

i saw video from basics of sikhi

the points he made

1) kaur is a woman's last name and it stays that way forever, even after marriage 2) women are allowed to be women (body hair) and not prepubescent girls 3) monogamous marriage (unlike islam where guys can marry up to 4 girls) kinda unfair to girls :/ 4) during menstruation girls were seen impure, but not in sikhi (guru nanak said so kio manda akhiey jis janme rajan) 5) women are armed (the 5 k apply to women) 6) in islam guy can say divorce divorce divorce and its done and over with, that stuff doesn't fly in sikhi

bottom line, sikhi is the only religion that comes close to modern concept of equality to all. it is truly a blessing.
