Is making mistakes and sins part of our hukum? How does Sikhi explain making mistakes. I really messed up and went into a wrong path, I forgot God, family and everything I was blessed with and took it all for granted and made huge mistakes. I keep trying to understand my actions and can't help thinking if I had made different decisions the outcome would be different. The regret keeps piling up and is a massive weight on my shoulders, because of this i keep thinking maybe these choices I made were part of my hukum, perhaps they were a result of bad karams from past lives. I know I need to face up to what I've done and stop excusing my actions but I just don't understand why I did them or why I didn't see that the consequences would catch up to me. I keep trying to look for answers in my head to get some kind of closure, I'm not looking for something to blame just for some perspective. I know all faults are my own but I really need to understand how we see faults and mistakes and sins and if they are predetermined or if they are what keep us from achieving our actual destiny. I really don't want to be subject to my mistakes and want forgiveness and to have a clean slate, how do I do that?

There is no such thing as a mistake. Each thing is an action you took, words you spoke or a decision you made. What we call mistakes are Guru Ji's lessons to us. Did you learn? Then integrate what you learned into yourself and move forwards. Do not get caught up in guilt or regret. The past is gone. It will never come back. The universe is a university. Guru Ji gives us new lessons every day. Our job is to pay attention and learn, then modify our actions, decisions and words in accordance with what we have learned. When we do not learn the lesson, the lesson is repeated until we learn it. That is how Guru Ji teaches us.
