Does anyone about this thing that why is it done? I've seen a video which shows that a goat (I don't remember exactly, but I think it'd be goat) was killed just outside the Gurudwara and it's fresh blood is taken in that container in which parshad is served, and everyone including the person holding that utensil literally run inside the Gurudwara to give shashtar fresh tilak of that poor animal's blood and I was shocked to see that video. It was horrible. Does anyone has a clue?

doesnt matter what reasons people give to defend this act, this is completely unacceptable as sikhi. Guru ji gave us sword to protect weaks, innocents and fight cruel tyrant people. Killing innocents in any form is not sikhi. its shocking wen people defend it with silly justifications from history

People need to wake up. This is the 21st century. We are not living how our Guru's once lived. We are so lucky to be safe and have all the necessities of life. The sword is not our God. The Guru Granth Sahib is not our God. No person living is our Guru. We carry the light of God within us all. Our first Guru has taught us that. God is everywhere, in each living being. This act of "Jhatka" is a barbaric act done by a sect of Sikhs who have no idea what our first guru preached. He tried to lead us away from rituals, away from praying to statues/objects, away from being cruel to ourselves and others. He taught us to love all. Whether Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Jew. He taught us to love all living things, human and non-human. So these people who kill these poor innocent animals are doing it as a ritual, which our first Guru has told us to steer away from. This is not an argument of eating meat or not eating meat. That is a completely different argument and topic. But what this is about is ritual practices. These people believe that they are pleasing God by killing an innocent animal and rubbing it's blood on weaponry. These kind of rituals took place thousands of years ago when humans were not as educated as they are now. They still take place in some parts of Africa, again due to lack of education. These people are not Sikhs. They are cruel and barbaric and uneducated. I hope and pray for these people and may God help them.

This is the ancient practise of jhatka said to date back to the times of the 10th guru, the purpose of jhatka was when the khalsa couldnt live a vegeterian life style they had to eat meat and it is done in this way but to make it sacred the animal is first offerd to god and for sikhs the swprd represents god.

WRITTEN BY A BIBEKI VEGITERIAN

Jhatka practise is sikhi, sikhs have all become weak minded, guru gobind singh ji instituted jhatka as a rehat that must always take place, instead of slaughtering the animal in a cruel way it is killed fairly quickly with one stroke of the sword, bani is read (japji and Chandi di vaar) and on th elast lines of the bani the head of the animal is decapitataed.

the reason for jhatka is so that singhs could practise shastarvidya, it was important for the khalsa gto learn how to kill and behead there foes and it is for this reason that it was instituted. in the rehat name it says that any sikh that eat meat for its taste is comitting a sin. khalsa eat meat for its sustanace especially when they may fall ill due to vegeterianism, this meat lightly called or dubed as mahaprashaad is given to the poor and those who cant eat it amoungst the comunity.

the skin of the goat then helps make things like table and nagara, sarangi dilruba etc, and its bones used to make weapons, the rehat is that if an animal is to be eaten then all of body be used respectfully, if not its body is cremated.

another reason for jhatka is simple for the khalsa to see what death is it is very simple to be able to see it with your own eyes.

jhatka is the moral way, and has been practised for many centuries. its a science that allows the khalsa to be ever ready and has to take place by order of guru gobind singh ji at hazur sahib and the dals.

how do you think that we get the TABLA and the NAGARA etc

allot of things factor into jhatka it is very important. the belief is that the animals that have jhatka preformed on them are taken out of there life forms so its not seen as a death but a valid victory over death by the grace of the guru.

So the bibek system tell all sikhs that hey should be LACTO-VEGETERIANS and eat out of iron drinking only spring water, jhatka is the only institution that is allowed within the bibeki system if all of its laws are adhered to otherwise slaughtering if a goat for the purpose of taste satisfaction is a cror paap, just as having a bath tub full of warm water as a pointkess bath is a waste of water and recources all of which one will have to pay for in the end.

Remain vegeterian but dont point your nose up at meat or at jhatka its t here for a reason and we must open our minds to understand this practise.

Yes this is a wrong practice but i will clear up some things for you When Guru Gobind Singh was in battle and the Singhs were trapped with no exit out of the mountain there was no food left so Singhs started to bake tree bark and eat it but it wouldnt give them energy to fight so guru sahib killed a goat with one strike (Jhatka) and gave the poor animal mukti from the birth and death cycle and the meat was given around as "Mahaprasad" and the singhs came storming back beating the mughals but the lesson was to only eat meat when its a absolute last resort and only kill it in a near death situation or in war and only Guru Sahib could give the animal mukti these foolish people at Hazur Sahib think that the animal will get mukti just by there hands when they are but dust compared to Guru ji how will that sinning and erring mortal give that goat mukti ? Its simple as that and Khalsa was given a Hukam by Guru Gobind Singh to be Lacto Vegetarian and when you need to go into combat listen to Chandi di var path it will give endless amount of power and energy only in battle. So these people you see here are complete fools and God help them see what the truth is this practise needs to stop espeically at Hazur sahib gurudwara thats pure and is being filthened by the blood of that goat that was innocent there sins will soon enough come back in this world to came them pay Guru Nanak dev ji says That god is in everything so why kill the bird or chicken ? ( in this case its a goat) and Waheguru doesnt want a sacrifice to please him thats why Guru ji stopped the ritual of fasting for God when god doesnt want to see his children in pain ( Animals and Humans) so that is a big lie that this is a sacrifice that is to god and the shasters. Also eating the meat is also a sin when there is other food around and the 5 sin s of the animal will go into you.

I am not a pure Sikh but I really have a great devotion towards Sikhism. But after reading this article, I am shocked, until now I thought a Sikh is a person who is kind hearted to weak and innocent and a tough fighter against the evil, a Sikh is the one to protect the weak, a Sikh only works for good. A sikh works under the shelter of lord. Very sad to say about the practice going on of killing goat. I agree the above statement (When Guru Gobind Singh was in battle and the Singhs were trapped with no exit out of the mountain there was no food left so Singhs started to bake tree bark and eat it but it wouldnt give them energy to fight so guru sahib killed a goat with one strike (Jhatka) and gave the poor animal mukti from the birth and death cycle and the meat was given around as "Mahaprasad" and the singhs came storming back beating the mughals but the lesson was to only eat meat when its a absolute last resort and only kill it in a near death situation or in war and only Guru Sahib could give the animal mukti ). I deeply respect guru ji's work at that time. But now is the time to work on his learnings, what he thought us. The 52 hukums don't say to kill the goat. Come on dear Sikhs stay on his teaching, don't practice what world do. We should not do things that makes anyone cry. Who we are to kill the creature? We should be a Sikh. I pray to waheguruji to make them understand the meaning of a Sikh. Actually they know more than me, who I am? Just a boy from a point like place. But please I don't have words to express my emotions regarding these speechless creatures who got killed. Waheguruji please save them. And let Sikhism be as great as it was in guru sahib ji's time. Special request for the readers, please don't shower anger on me. Because before reading this I got a deep faith in Sikh, I felt hurt, how a Sikh can do so? Ie to kill goat. Please give me a satisfactory answer.

i am so dissapointed by the comment by a guest that sword is not our god? u should think over this :-

Khalsa ,a sikh worships the sword and keeps it with him as it signifies that he/she has tied the death and lives with it (lives in peace with the fact that death is the actual reality-life is but a dream ) death is the reality, sikhs have victory over the fear of death -through their life of pious actions, pure thought and conduct . Sword gives mental strength ,emotional strength ,sikhs are in tune with the truth . Sword is not just the visible form ,but it has such symbolism that one cannot imagine untill waheguru ji blesses .being a servant of that great almighty and i will try to explain . sword is the manifestation of the almighty :- The sword of knowlegde that cuts through ignorance The sword of justice that cuts through the unjust ,the unfair The sword of punishment that cuts through the crime and the evil The sword of words that cuts through darkness and spreads light The sword of compassion ,kindness and love that cuts through hatred, anger ,jealousy The sword of results that follow actions, punishes the evil and rewards the good The sword that purifies and ends all evil The sword of waheguru ji which when works ,gives u a new life ,cuts through all your past mistakes, deeds, pardoning completely and giving a new start . The sword that is the symbol of the truth, the reality, purity, -and the power to change ,forgive, give,in an instant.

I have the utmost respect for NIHANG SIKHS and most part of their lives. But sacrifices goats / animals or any species should be a big NO NO . Where is the DHAYA ? Theres no compassion at all . Just follow the Guru Granth Sahib fully in a proper manner such things as sacrifices need to be avoided at all cost.

VEGETARINISM is the way forward and always will be. Rab Rakha..
