We will see in Gurbani that sakhat (harsh) language has been used to dissuade people from leaving Gurmat. Now think of practicality. No cap will stay fixed on your head, just a swipe of hand and it will come off. Turban with it's inverted V over the ears, makes a much better grip and houses the kesh with respect. People instead of keeping a top knot, spread and flatten their hair, which will probably pull or entangle it. I know people go for it 'cause it takes less time. I think tying a 2-3 metres keski is even faster. Rest is your wish veerji! How wearing a cap affects anyone, I don't know!
It is wise of you to ask rather than follow others blindly. I say this because someone who has love for Sikhi would always want his apprehensions answered so as to not hurt Rehat maryada...
As far as the question of whether wearing a cap is forbidden in Sikhi or not, the answer is yes. Our Rehet Maryada forbids us from wearing Hats/Caps...
Also, just to add to this I sometimes come across people who say they can't wear Dastars because they get headaches or they shorn their hair for the same reason. I just ask them one simple question, if you don't like your mother/father, would you replace them for someone you do?

I am hard case ..As Sikhism gives spiritual lifestyle to enlightenment I Would be interested in knowing the science or spirituality behind abandoning Caps. I have met many Enlightened beings with no dastaar, so why such a big consequence and importance to type of abject you cover your head from is given.
I personally experience better flow of energy through crown when i am not wearing dastaar.
if anyone can share his/her experience?

Khalsa ji..Guru Gobind Singh ji gave us gift of turban. Wearing a topi would mean that we did not accept our father's gift. A sikh must always wear a turban. Guru ji said that " rehat pyari mujko, sikh pyara nahi"...
