Sat Nam! Even if your mind has a positive intention and visualization (remember "The Secret?") that is only your conscious mind. But what "The Secret" didn't tell you is that you actually have three minds: your conscious mind, your subconscious mind and your unconscious mind. The problem is that your subconscious mind will still block you and 'undo' your intentions unless you clean it up through daily sadhana. That is the purpose of meditation - to take out the rubbish. Your subconscious mind is your shadow. It can be known and it can be cleansed. Your unconscious mind is your unknown. You can reach that as well through meditation.

Everyone has light and shadow. Subconscious contains the shadow. Know your shadow. Understand your dark side. Day and night go together. There is no "good" or "bad" it is all part of you.
