Waheguru JI ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji ki Fateh!

I am from Norway and I have learned a lot about Sikhism. I was on a Sikh youth camp last week, and I found out that one day I'll start to not cut my hair and also maybe take Amrit. It all is so weird, because when I first learn something about the Sikhi way of life, I just want to learn more and more! But my question is, how should I start? Should I start with patka or dastar, even though my hair isn't that long yet, or should I wait until my hair is long enough to tie it? Thank you for response! - Daniel Waheguru JI ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji ki Fateh!

Its such a blessing that you want to take Amrit! I am happy for you :)

Just start wearing a Dastaar with Chardi Kala... Your hair will grow slowly and you will get used to it too!

Start to get familiar with 5 banis of Nitnem :) If you need any help finding I can do that for you. Start doing Naam SImran everyday (start from 5 min and increase).

WAHEGURUJI KA KHALSA WAHEGURUJI KI FATEH

remember my freind when you come to the house of the guru your name will no longer be that which was given to those who gave you first birth. Your name will be changed acourding to your new parents the khalsa on that day when you take amrit for the 10th guru and his wife mata sahib kaur will become your new parents it is there that you will find all shelter.

start at first with a simple rumal-bandana 24/7 when you hair grown long enough to tie a small bunch on-top of your haid do so with a patka carry on untill you have enough hair to tie a rishi knot. when this stage is passed you can tie a dastar, the dastar is typically given by an elder of the sangat and tied in a ceremony infront of sri guru granth sahib ji. the name of the ceremony is dastar bandi.
