Why is Dheg used for Prashad? Why can't we use anything else such as fruit?

I go to a Catholic school because the education is really good. They also have a Prashad, their Prashad is wine and unleavend bread. They have a reason for their Prashad being this. That reason is that Jesus, before He died told his disciples that the bread is His body and the wine is His blood after being blessed. I want to know what the reason is for us using Dheg for Prashad. Every Guruduwara Sahib I have been to uses Dheg.

If you get a chance, try looking at the process of preparing the degh. By process, I imply no other thing, only see how and what contents are mixed and what it eventually becomes.

Also, if possible, try your hand at making it.

You'll get more than your answer.

degh also comanly called kadah prashaad or even gur prashaad the reason why we have kadah prashaad as our gurprashaad is for severel reasons it i s a tradition going back to the times of the guru to give sweatend food at the end of each ceremony as a symbol of grace too the congregation. there are different types of prsaads of course but it is only kadah prasaad that is to be given in the gurus diwan hall or darbur hall in the langar area fruit is comanly given or even sweets fruit can also sometimes be given in the diwan hall depending on certain gurdwaras but they will also give karah prashaad aswell. another type of prashaad comanly given is sukha prashaad meeening dry prashaad this is given on rare occasions like nagar kiratns or journeys or in place or karah when it is not there sukha prasaad tends to be nuts almonds sugar crystals and other types of sugar.

prasaad is only prsaad when kirpan bhet has been done on the offering when it is time for bhog. kirpaan bhet goes back to the time onf the tenth guru when the 10th guru dressed up as a Muslim saint to pass the maughals five singhs carried him on a manji passing through they met the maughals and there army the maughals decicded to test them for they felt something was fishy so they beheaded a cow and asked the singhs to eat the meat knowing that sikhs dont eat meat and would be able to catch them out the guru desguised then told his sikhs to do bhet on the meat meaning the kirpan wiuld be drawn from its case and touch the offering and be blessed when this happend it turned into kadah prasaad and the singhs and the guru ate it thus they were allowed to pass through undetected and so the tradition satyed.

mass is not prasaad and so should not be recieved by you and noyt touched by you either. as a sikh prashaad only can be given to you by a sikh of the guru and by the guru it is a kurehit to receive alcohol and food blessed in an un sikh way such as sacrement this is not prashaad and is not to be recieved and must at all cercomstances be refused.

we should respect all religions and there beielfs satnam.

now remeber the most powerfull is just the word waheguru i cant emphasise that more.

(WAHEGURU) ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ
