I don't think Karma really exists.

It's just something for people to get motivated to do good in life,

Good and bad will happen in life, what ever Karma you do. There is no escaping it.

Think about the bad things that happened to Guru Gobind Singh, do you think he might have done bad karma to deserve it ?

All things are in balance. The law of karma is simply that every action creates a sequence and a consequence.Every consequence creates an equal and opposite reaction. It is very impersonal.
