I am wondering if there is a translation to English or Punjabi which is more than just a translation of the line itself. I find the Punjabi ones are at least a little bit in more detail while the English is usually one line, but for example this line "Janameja did not know the word of the Guru's shabad." It would be nice to have a translation which explains who is Janameja, and what does this mean. That's just one example. I have read a lot of translations which do not make sense without background information, I am wondering if anyone knows of a translation that includes such explanations with a bit of extra background.

Gurujot Singh suggested a Siri Guru Granth Sahib WIKI. Each word and line would allow contributions of references and meanings so that it will build over time, deeper and deeper. I don't believe it's been done yet.

That's a great idea, I hope it gets developed at some point.

Waheguru Jio, I suggest Professor Sahib Singh ji's teeka called "Guru Granth Sahib ji darpan". It includes in-depth translation which I hold to as 99.9% true to baani with references! So, its brilliant. Hope this helps.
