When I went to the Gurdwara for the first time (a few days ago) I was given karah prasad after bowing down. I searched up the ingredients online later and found out that butter is used to make it. I’m vegan so that means I can’t consume anything that comes from an animal but at the same time I don’t want to be disrespectful because I know it’s rude to decline. Right now I’m not sure what’s the right thing to do. Should I tell them that I’m vegan? Will they understand me? Will people think I’m rude for declining the offer? I would love to visit the gurdwara again but this is the thing that’s holding me back.

Dont' let this stop you from going to the Gurdwara Sahib. You could either just not go to the person with the parshad (if they are sitting there), or if they come to you, you can say you cannot eat butter (they may not understand vegan). Maybe they'll think you are rude, but so be it.

Accept Guru's Prashad with grace, but you do not have to eat it. Give it to a child nearby (they will be very happy) or put it in a napkin and give to someone else later. Blessings all around!
