Is it really that easy : mann manyaa to har janyaa ?
In a way, Mann Jeetay Jag Jeet. But the problem is that our Mann 'manda' nahi. It doesn't listen to us. If we can tame our mind, make it understand (Mann Manyaa) then we can realize Lord.
ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਜੁ ਸਤਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾ ॥
Listen, O my mind: hurry to the Protection of the Guru's Sanctuary.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਛੁਟੀਐ ਬਿਖੁ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਗੁਰ ਤਰਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
By Guru's Grace you shall be saved. Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, you shall cross over the terrifying world-ocean of poison. ||1||Pause||
ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਸਭਾ ਧਾਤੁ ਹੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ॥
Everything under the influence of the three qualities shall perish; the love of duality is corrupting.
ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਪੜੈ ਬੰਧਨ ਮੋਹ ਬਾਧਾ ਨਹ ਬੂਝੈ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥
The Pandits, the religious scholars, read the scriptures, but they are trapped in the bondage of emotional attachment. In love with evil, they do not understand.
ਸਤਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਤ੍ਰਿਕੁਟੀ ਛੂਟੈ ਚਉਥੈ ਪਦਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥੨॥
Meeting the Guru, the bondage of the three qualities is cut away, and in the fourth state, the Door of Liberation is attained.
The 3 qualities are tamas, rajas and sattvas - the gunas. These are energy states of matter. The fourth state is Turiya - Jivan Mukta. Guru Ji says that when you are in Turiya consciousness you are not bound by the physical world.

ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਅਤਿ ਸਬਲ ਹੈ ਛਡੇ ਨ ਕਿਤੈ ਉਪਾਇ ॥ This mind is very powerful; we cannot escape it just by trying.
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਇਦਾ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਦੇਇ ਸਜਾਇ ॥ In the love of duality, people suffer in pain, condemned to terrible punishment.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਗੇ ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੪॥੧੮॥੫੧॥ O Nanak, those who are attached to the Naam are saved; through the Shabad, their ego is banished.
to put it in very simple words we can say ...
maanaya = agreeing(maan jaana), maan jaana to what? in sihki there is only and only one thing to agree to and that is HUKAM and what is hukam?(usually we term hukam as acepting the will of god but its much more than that)...
and there is only ONE HUKAM, which guru ji tells us is to JAP(as in "jap" ji sahib)and through this jap we are to control kaam, anger, lobh, moh and ahankar, and that is it.
so if we analise even in normal life/world, when we obey someone, he becomes our friend, he/she likes you and likes to keep your company. in the same context when we obey this one hukam(JAP) waheguru will become our friend and with the help of our friend(SHABAD) we will CONTROL the 5's and when they are in control you will suddenly realise that your maan has already manaya hoiya as you are in hukam and then your beloved friend(shabad, guru, waheguru, god... or any other name you may have for him) will long for YOUR company ..... and then you dont need to worry about knowing (janna, janaya)him... he will come and introduce himself with all due respect and love.
