Whoa, slow down and breathe deeply. You are spinning out of control. Now is the time to calm yourself. Meditate. Do Simran with your breath. Relax. If you don't deal with your desperation, nothing else will work.

Forget what has already happened. You cannot go back and change it. It is gone. Let it go. All that you can do is do your best RIGHT NOW. So commit to do that. The rest is in Guru's hands. Do your best and let go of your attachment to the results. You are not the doer. Sat Kartar is the doer.

All love in Divine, .....G

are results determined by the will of God? If someone fails is it because he/she was meant to or due to bad karams??

I am sorry to hear about the way you are feeling. I gather from what you are saying is that you failed at course at college (university) and you feel you cannot speak to your parents about it.

You can ignore my suggestion and listen to other responses of people who have far more helpful advice than me.

At some point in our journeys we embark on in our lives, we get to a part where we feel like giving up. Sometimes we give up before we even start and other times we give up after we have not obtained the results of something that we put all our effort and energy into. I know how you feel as I have been in a similar position.

You say you want to kill yourself. But my view is that as long as you are alive (and healthy and free) you have the choice to keep trying until you finally succeed. The chance of mastering something the first time you do it is almost non-existent. Everything takes time to learn and you will make mistakes. Learn from them. You may have failed something but learn from it. Every time you get knocked down you should try and get back up again.

You are stronger than you think. One little setback is not enough to stop you from achieving your goals. Neither are 10 or 100 or 1000 setbacks. You don’t want to be known as someone that is weak and gives up. Go out there and prove yourself in your own studies and to yourself. You CAN and WILL achieve what you set out to do. The only time you fail is when you give up. Don’t sell yourself short. In life there are going to be many people who will try to bring you down and tell you what you want to achieve is not possible. Don’t let anyone destroy your dreams.

Let the people you love and who mean the world to you be your inspiration to persist and persevere. Maybe you need to try a different angle, study more or practice more but don’t give up!

The best policy with parents is to be honest and upfront with them about what has happen. Don’t you think that it will be a weight off your shoulder by telling them and trying to move on from it?

I hope my suggestions have been helpful.

Hi,

I just failed the bar exam. I was of course devastated at first, but quickly saw it as a blessing.

As Sikhs we are taught to live in Bhaana (God's will) and in order to fully practice this, we must be willing to accept the good and the bad in our lives with full Chardi Kala.

As a human, all you can do is try, just because you try really hard, does not mean you are entitled a particular result. A perspective of entitlement is counter-intuitive to the humility a Sikh is suppose to practice in their daily lives.

Failure can be a huge blessing, it can propel you into an amazing direction in life if you embrace it and allow it to release you from the pressures of being perfect all the time. Nobody is perfect. Try Again. and Again.

I have no less respect for you just because you didn't pass an exam, and you shouldn't either. Respect yourself, love yourself, and just let yourself be. It really is OK.

Do not let matters of this world; money, exams, careers destroy your light, you are the light of God. Protect that light, and let it shine always.

Wishing you a successful, happy, and peaceful life, HK

Sigh! I know how you feel coz I felt that once but seriously is killing yourself going to make your parents happy and then would their hard earned money be worth anything?

I remember when I was at university and yes it was my fault, didn't take studies seriously and obviously I failed in one paper....and I remember thinking, if I fail once more, I am going to kill myself...but boy I am glad I didn't. I finished my degree, made my parents proud and to be honest today I am working in a big I.T. company as a Software Analyst - so NO killing yourself isn't the answer.

Just be careful next time, study hard. "Waheguru will only help you if you help yourself. So see you have to study and put in the effort". Do not dwell on what has already happened. Make sure you study and become something then help your parents.

Hope this helps.

May god bless you.

Regards Prabh

Hey dear, Committing suicide is a sin. Face every challenge in life. Ups & Downs are part of life. God Takes our test by making conditions like this. So keep faith in God and accept the challenge. The only way to face this challenge is to be confident in yourself. and the way to be confident in your self is by doing meditation. Not only meditation will work you will have to do some promise with yourself. you will have to be punctual and will have to remain in discipline. promise yourself to work hard. and be truthful to yourself means will have to keep your promise with yourself. then you will see how the magics will start happening in your life.

Hope sustains life.

God is super kind.

You just gotta talk to him.

He gives u the best that u can digest.

Imagine being asked to lift Lbs 100 at gym when all you can do is 50.

Imagine being given a hundred chocolate cookies fr snack while u feel full with 2.

Imagine being given a million dollars to spend while god may want to first test u with a 1000.

U could end up ruining your life if god ws to giv u the remote control. Wahegurujikakhalsa wahegurujikifataih

I'm sorry that you failed your course and will have to repeat it. My suggestion, yes is continue listening to paath, whichever one you like the most. The reason why I suggest that is listening to paath is a great way to improve attention. Close your eyes and focus on the words, at the same time you are learning. Rid yourself of all other thoughts. Practice this once daily. No one is perfect, so do your best to listen at least once. This will ease your mind before doing anything - preparing for an exam, studying, writing a paper, etc.

Another suggestion is find out when your professor has office hours or if there is a teaching assistant for that course, find out when those hours are. You can receive extra help for that course from your teacher assistant or profession during those times. Hopefully you do not have another course during those times. Maybe you only need to spend an hour/week.

Take a considerable look at your study habits. Are you attending class? Are you keeping up with readings in conjunction with lectures? How are you studying? Maybe you are spending too much time memorizing information rather than understanding concepts and coming up with examples. Try doing discussion questions located at the back of each chapter. The discussion questions are actually the key material/concepts that will be tested on your exam. If you know that your exam is going to be multiple choice than find practice questions available in your textbook. You can even find practice questions online if you type in specific key words.

Once you figure out and establish a good study routine, you will do just fine. If you need the extra help, I suggest you seek it. Office hours and teacher assistant hours are always listed on your syllabus.
