I am a Hindu. But i have a deep trust on Waheguru. These days i am doing 40 days Nitnem. But my Mom is against it, according to her i am Hindu i should not attempt Sikh culture. I fought with my Mom many times on the same topic. I hate when she says not to do Nitnem, not to wake at Amritvella. Even she said don't talk to me if i do Nitnem. Please help me. I don't want to fight with her nor i wan't to stop doing Nitnem.

Hi Vaishali Tomar,

When you are at home recite only Simran which can be recited slowly without your Mom knowing. Go to the Gurdwara near your home for 40 days and then there you can read the Nitnem not necessarily at Amritvella only.

I have a personal question for you. Are you Rajput, Jat or Gurjar?

Vaishali Ji - Welcome to the Youth Q&A. Simply tell the truth. "This is my daily Sadhana, which the Lord has directed me to do." and tell her, "Mataji, I pray for you and for our family every day." Don't argue or fight with her. Just smile, speak gracefully, be kind to all and participate in seva for your family and others in the best and brightest spirit.

I agree with Guruka Singh Ji. I'll add that this reminds me of learning from Prehlad, whose father Harnakish did not want him to do chant the Name of God either, but that he persisted and he was under God's protection. It teaches us to stick with reciting the Name of God no matter what, and to have trust on God.
