Why do you want to convert to Islam?

You can’t be Sikh and follow is Islam both teach very different things, as Bhai Gurdaas Ji says you can’t have your feet in two boats.

For example Sikhi teaches that their are different paths that lead to Waheguru, but Islam teaches it is the only path and all non believer will go to hell.

Sikhi teaches equality between different genders and Islam teaches the men are superior. You should also look up how non-believers (kafirs) in Islam can be treated especially females as they can be treated as property.

Watch the above videos.

I think you should explore what it is that attracts you to Islam so you can understand better what it is that is driving these feelings and get answers to your questions. Learn more about the Sikh religion. Sometimes people want to convert because they don’t understand fully about their own religion. Learn about our history- it is very inspirational, like GN said learn about equality. Learn about the tenents, about how they are applied, about inspirational figures like Mai Bhago, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and Bhai Kanhaiya. You are very young, i don't think converting is a good idea even if you are uncertain about Sikhi. Take this time to learn and deepen your spiritual knowledge and awareness. Do you have Sikh friends?

"There is no Hindu and there is no Muslim" Labels mean little. Follow the path to which your heart is attracted. But understand your motives. If you want to "get back" at your parents, that's not about your path. Get clear before you act.

Please take this response carefully. You are young, and need much time before making a decision such as changing one's religion. Please, do not rush this. It is true, that a Sikh cannot follow Islam. The Gurbani instructs us, in fact, commands all Sikhs to follow Gurbani, the "Sikh scriptures". Consider three colors, Green, Blue and Orange. These colors are also different, and often "Green" is used by Islamic states, and "Blue" and "Orange" is used by Sikhs. Religion is reflected through color. It is also correct that often Sikh parents get "angry" when faced by such a question. This anger is actaully "love" for your well being. But often, this has the effect of driving away the child from one's religion. The problem is that a number of Sikhs do not follow their religion. Some in other religion do not follow their religion. Our reasons for changing the religion have to be questioned. However, I will tell you this. A number of scholars of Islam, have referred to Sikhism as the "Great Sikh Religion". It is "Great" due to its unique philosophy, equality, fairness and unparalleled love for humanity..I hope it is helpful.....Kuldip
