SSA ji I belong from a Sikh family but only my grandma does patth regularly thrice a day ..My parents do not regularly read gurbani so that is why even I don't have the habit to do patth regularly . But now I can feel the importance of having connection with babaji ...Without this life is hell. Now I want to do patth every early morning and want to walk on the path of loyalty and truth as guided by babaji but the problem is that I am scared of the reaction of my family members on seeing these changes in me and it restricts me from remembering god with true heart daily ...So I feel that I am stuck and I am not able to make both ends meet ...Moreover thinking continuously abt the fact that whether I'll be able to follow the code of conduct given by babaji ,makes me feel anxious and nervous and as a result I am not able to focus on my studies ..Pls help me overcome my fear ..So that I can study well a d also become a true Sikh

You need to relax take slow steps at your pace, do araadas and have faith that Guru ji will solve your problems.

Your family cannot restrict you from Waheguru. Waheguru is always with you.

You should also talk to your family, and don't be anxious or nervous there's is no point in that will just waste your time.

You say, "...now I can feel the importance of having connection with babaji... Without this life is hell."

Well, that about sums it up. Your family will say and do what they will. If your intentions and your devotion are pure and have no ulterior motive in them, then it matters not what others say or think. This is between Guru Ji Maharaj and you. No one else. Go forwards a step at a time. Begin daily sadhana and paath. Meditate on Naam. Deepen your connection to Guru Ji and then let him manage the family situation. If you are happy, kind, compassionate, graceful and steady then nothing and no one can come between you and your Guru.

This post is a wiki. Anyone with karma >100 is welcome to improve it.

One principle that is needed to understand: Your relationship with Babaji is yours only. Therefore, this is your special time with Babaji and should be taken seriously. You can recite prayers at your own pace and gradually increase as you like. Pray privately in your room because it is your personal time with him.

You can give your grandmother company by sitting with her during her evening prayers if you like.

Listen to Mantra Gurbani or shabads at a low volume will help you focus your attention while reading. Listen before an exam, midterm, or while typing assignments.

I want to add that yes, maybe your parents/grandmother will take notice of this change and wonder "why the sudden change," the correct and actually the most truthful answer is you are trying to improve yourself for self-development and yes, that is perfectly okay. They will be happy to see such great changes in you. Trust me.
