The issue is Sikhs have chosen their leaders both political and religious through ballots but the Sikh leadership is deeply divided on how to resolve the Sikh issues. Lack of unity is the biggest problem amongst the Sikhs.
In Punjab the biggest problem is that of forced conversions of Sikhs to Islam and the extra-judicial killings of the Sikh youths done years back by the then top Cop of the Punjab, Alam Khan. Many Mosques and Muslim colonies have been settled and the Muslim population in Punjab is growing at an alarmingly high rate.
Malerkotla is one such town in Punjab where Muslims are in majority and places like Qadian, Bathinda, and other towns and cities of Punjab where Muslims will soon outnumber the Sikhs. There's going to be a whole demographic change in Punjab in the coming years. And once Muslims become majority in the Indian Punjab, they will certainly impose the Shariah Law.
The ultimate agenda of the Muslims is to poison the Sikhs' mind and make them fight with the Hindus in India and at the same time keep on increasing their population in Punjab.

Unfortunately, the radical Sikh elements present in India as well as in diaspora trust too much on the Punjabi speaking Pakistani Muslims & the Muslims in general and they hate the Hindus but soon these Sikhs will realize their mistake but by then it will be too late.
