I am a Hindu girl from Mauritius. I am interested in learning Sikhism. Also i love the personality of the Sardars. I started learning about Sikhi in Mauritius but online i became friend with a Sardar from U.K, he told me that you haven't learnt the right Sikhi in Mauritius, he taught me a different version of Sikhi but i was highly confused so i decided to go to Punjab to learn Sikhi.

On my arrival in Amritsar i met one Sikh religious scholar who taught me exactly the opposite of what i have learnt about Sikhi from the previous two Sikhs. In Amritsar itself i met yet another Sikh who told me that the scholar you met previously is actually a Pakistani agent in India who is hell bent on destroying Sikhi, he told me lots of Pakis have infiltrated in Punjab who have degraded Sikhi. He taught me yet another different version of Sikhi.

So, i thought of meeting the main head of the SGPC at Amritsar, when i went to his place, he blatantly asked me through his interlocutor, Do you know Punjabi. I replied No because i am a Hindu girl from Mauritius and then he told me it's very difficult for you to understand Sikhi, you first go and learn Punjabi and Gurmukhi.

I felt so dejected and even after spending so much time, energy as well as money i couldn't learn about Sikhi. Each and every Sikh i met blamed the other Sikhs, everyone was trying to dictate his own version of Sikhi. I came across ten different versions of Sikhi. Everybody gave me different format of Rehat Maryada.

Now, my question is why you Sikhs have so many different versions of Sikhi , why you guys don't have any one Standard format of Sikhi. why there is so much infighting within your own Panth. Why is Punjabi/Gurmukhi a must to learn Sikhi, whom to believe as to which Sikh is talking truth. What is exact Sikhi. and lastly, how to marry a Sardar?

Hi 1. Sikhi means to learn . We do not believe in idol worshipping . After 10 gurus , now our 11 th guru is guru granth sahib ji . A true sikh should read, understand and follow whatever it is written in guru granth sahib ji. This is only support for sikh community to unite. 2. Different rehat maryadas is due to impurities added on by some persons . Those person made our religion as a buisness. Different deras under various baba indulge there rehat maryada. 3.Only guru granth sahib ji is real truth. You should learn gurmukhi so that you can read gurbani yourself and learn what our gurus teach us . 4. If you want to marry a sikh guy just check one thing if he follows our gurus hukam then he is a true sikh

In India, from where can i purchase the physical form of SGGS J in Hindi because one can find peace only by reading the physical form not by reading it online.

To bring Guru Ji into your home is a very big deal. Ideally you should be Amritdari and have been taught how to respect Guru ji. But start reading bani online/go to your local Gurdhwara.

No, guru granth sahib ji can be read by any person . Being amritdhari doesnot matter. Anyone can read gurbani even ifperson is pandit, muslim , christian etc.

I understand you very clearly. Don't go in too much of trouble . everybody have made their own versions on sikhi like someone will tell you eating jhatka is allowed where the others will totally deny it. I once asked babaji of gurudwara near my house that why does nihangs in my area consume sukha(also known as bhang) when it is strictly not allowed in sikhi, babaji said- its not sukha its degh (like prasad) and nihangs used to consume it before battle so that they won't feel pain and they do now because it will help them in concentration. And in my mind Iwas like is this babaji trying to sell me sukha when he should have critisized nasha. so I think you get my point.. just take reference from Guru Granth Sahib and might get it all.

But there's so much confusion amongst the Sikhs themselves.
