I often read in English translations of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji "O Siblings of Destiny" Who does this refer to?

In the widely used English translation by Dr. Sant Singh Ji of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, he translates ਭਾਈ (Bhajee) which literally means brother(s) as "siblings of destiny." I think he did this in order to both avoid sexism (siblings rather than brothers) as well as to show that we are brothers and sisters in Sadhsangat and that if we are hearing Guru Ji's words, that we have a "great destiny written on our forehead" ਜਿਸੁ ਵਡ ਭਾਗੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਵਡ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਤਿਨਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਕਢਿ ਕਢਿ ਲੀਆ (one who has good fortune and great destiny inscribed upon his forehead is blessed to follow the Guru's Teachings.)
