No, you have not broken your amrit. Masturbation is not 'right’ or ‘wrong.’ And it is certainly not haram. It is a question of understanding and conscious choice. Karma is incurred when pain is caused to another by your words or actions. When one is preoccupied by lust (compulsive thoughts and desires) it takes the mind away from the awareness of God in oneself and in all things.

Anything that becomes an obsession takes over the mind. Masturbation starts in the mind. What you do with your horniness is up to you. It is not just masturbation, but any obsession of the mind that keeps the mind attached to earthly things. The most important thing is to train your own mind through meditation. It is called pratyahar. The mind makes a wonderful servant and a lousy master. 'Man jeetai jag jeet!" Learn to control your mind, relax, and let Guru Ji show you how to serve him.

Your problem isn't masturbation. It is boredom followed by guilt. In my experience, boredom is a choice like any other choice. Stop torturing yourself over this urge, learn to MODERATE it and be sure you are active in other things such as studies, sports, seva, etc, so that you don't dwell on it.

Blessings to you in the Name of the Guru, the Light of every Sikh, and the Holy Naam which holds the world.
