Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji ki Fathe.

Habits are incredible hard to get rid of and it can take a very long time but keep at it and never give up. When you get up in the morning look at youself in the mirror and say that you are the son/daughter of Guru Gobind Singh. I'll tell you right now that you will not be able to look in to your eyes and say it because you know that you are not all because of your unhealthy habit.

Keep that in your mind and trust me when you have quit smoking for good and you are able to say that to yourself without hesitation that feeling of accomplishment and the love you will feel from your Guru will never leave you.

Conquer your mind and your habit will go away. Go to your doctor and seek help. Get the support of your family and that journey will not be so hard or depressing and when you emerge from our tunnel as an entirely different person.

As for your question, yes and no. God obviously does listen and yes it is effective but your disobeying the rehat set by Guru Gobind Singh. Who's ardass do you think that the guru listens to first with full heart? His devotional Sikhs. The effectiveness of your ardass increases as you become a person that keeps the rehat and recites God's praises not just a person that's a Sikh. 'rehat piari muj ko Sikh piara nahe'

I hope that helped.
