Waheguru Ji,

Doing something which you think makes others happy is a good thing but having a desire to become something in the eyes of the world is not what we as Sikhs want. Desire and ego are what is keeping us away from God.

I'm nobody to judge and say that you have/haven't got ego, all I will say is that you do ardas in front of Guru Granth Sahib Ji and then see what Hukamnaama Guru Sahib Ji blesses you with then truely reflect upon that.

In any situation always look for guidance from Guru Sahib Ji...as our Guru Ji will always guide us in the right direction.
