Another great question. Thank you. The householder life is different when one is called to a mission. Then it is not centered on the small family life but on serving the mission. Husband and wife each serve that mission in their own way. Maybe the husband serves the wife, maybe the wife serves the husband. Marriage means one soul in two bodies, and that means that they move side by side through life with the Guru and the Guru's mission at the center of both their lives. When one is called to teach, then teaching comes first because one must deliver what one's soul contracted to deliver in this lifetime before it took birth. When one makes Guru Ji the center of the marriage, then all responsibilities are fulfilled and married life is filled with grace and blessings.
